Woo Kukwon, the ’Basquiat of Korea’, who creates three-dimensional works on canvas using only the unique properties of paint, tries a new form of art with a cappella sound by focusing on the most primordial form of music, the voice. Described as an ’audience-experienced original visual sound show’, the performance is expected to tickle the senses of the audience with the a cappella sounds of joy, anxiety, emotion, and surprise produced by the opera chorus, combined with Woo’s lighthearted paintings. At first glance, Woo Kukwon’s canvas looks like a scene from a fairy tale. Colorfully painted child-like images and thick matiere are the most distinguishable features of his works. However, if you look closely at the work, it is not perfectly light and cheerful. The liveliness felt in the first impression fades as one gazes at the details or the surrounding environment of the characters in the work, and the cynical sentences overlap, immersing the audience in thought.
