PROGRAMW. A. Mozart: Piano Sonata in F major k.332L. v. Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 14 in c♯ minor, Op. 27-2 “Quasi una fantasia”intermissionS. Rachmaninoff: Piano Sonata no.2 in B flat minor, Op.36 (1931) Pursuing impeccable technique and delicate, deep tones in expression, pianist Shin Ji-eun graduated from Incheon Arts High School and Kookmin University with distinction in her bachelor’s and master’s courses. While she was a doctoral candidate at its graduate school, she went to France to pursue the Diplôme Supérieur d’exécution at the Conservatoire d’École Normale de Paris and completed her doctorate course after returning to Korea, laying a solid foundation for her professional career. She was selected as a finalist at the Asia Pacific Young Artists Piano Competition, and has been recognized for her talent in many national and international competitions, including the Chautauqua Piano Competition in the US where she won the second prize.Shin performed with the Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kookmin Philharmonic Orchestra at the 60th anniversary concert of Kookmin University (Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall), as well as was invited to perform at Elizabeth College of Music in Hiroshima, Japan and Wooin Art Hall’s Rising Star Recital. And four recitals she gave in Paris at Saint Philippe du Roule Chapelle Baltard and Cathedrale Sainte-Croix garnered high praise from local audiences.Since returning to Korea, Shin has performed at the 20th Century Piano Music Concert with Françoise Thinat and the 16th and 17th Piano Literature Research Society Concerts, and gave concerto performances with conductor Ham Shin-Ik’s Symphony Song Orchestra and the Festival Philharmonic Orchestra. Also, she gave duo recitals invited by the Cosmos Instruments in 2018 and 2019 with her teacher, pianist Yoon Young-hwa. Shin has participated in the ’dot the line’ music festival with composers and performers from various countries, and she continues to research and communicate with audiences, playing a diverse repertoire ranging from baroque and classical to contemporary works at various stages including Ewha Womans University and the Sori Arts Center of Jeollabuk-do.She studied with Yoon Chul-hee, Yoon Young-hwa, Françoise Thinat, Sodi Braide, Joo Hye-jung, and Lee Hye-jin and has been active as a member of the Piano Literature Research Society of Korea, the Kookmin Piano Society, piano ensemble Avec, and Ensemble Tones. She also teaches at Kookmin University and Kangnam University as an adjunct professor.
