There’s a lot more than just “Hallelujah” in the Händel’s great masterpiece!
Sold-out concert in the last year’s Sejong Season!

Regarded as the greatest musical legacy to mankind and one of the most famous classical music works, Händel’s oratorio “Messiah,” returns in 2023. The concert is joined by tenor Brian Giebler, who was praised for beautiful voice and outstanding expression by New York Times, along with top-class singers like soprano Kim Soon-young and baritone Yang Joon-mo. It is also a great chance to enjoy the masterpiece in the best acoustics of the Sejong Chamber Hall.
Some music scholars say that “Messiah” is a metaphysical opera. All the flashy staging and costumes or eye-catching battle or Bacchus-like festive scenes are replaced by full-fledged music only. Thus, it renders the most sublime and meditative spaces in one’s mind, for which it is crowned as “the gem of the oratorios.” “Messiah,” to be performed by the Seoul Metropolitan Chorus will give you an opportunity to look back on the noble sacrifice for others made by a man, not a heroic existence, who went through all the obstacles and victories that one can have in his/her life time.
