Cello Oh Hae-rangCellist Oh Hae-rang graduated from Sunhwa Arts Middle and High School and received her Bachelor of Music degree from Sungshin Women’s University, where she was an exchange student at the Conservatorio di Musica Umberto Giordano in Italy. She then went on to graduate from the Master of Music program and the Solistenexamen program at Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe with the highest honors.Her passion for music gained recognition by winning prizes, at home and abroad, at the International ’EUTERPE’ Competition in Italy (first place), the Dr. Hermann Büttner Duo Competition in Germany (second place), the Sunhwa Music Competition, the Journal of Music Competition, the Sungjung Music Competition, the Korea-Germany Brahms Society Competition, and many others. Oh has also performed with the Polnischen Kammerphilharmonie, Guri Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul National Orchestra, and Sungshin Philharmonic Orchestra, and has been acclaimed for her recitals at the Youngsan Grace Art Hall and the Rising Star Concert hosted by the Chosun Ilbo. She has been actively giving cello recitals, solo and ensemble performances at various halls at home and abroad, including Karlsruhe, Schömberg, Bad Wildbad, and Gernsbach in Germany, and participated in activities as a member of the Yehudi Menuhin Scholarship Foundation in Germany.In addition to her solo and ensemble performances, Oh has been a Praktikum(practice) member or a guest member of the Badisches Staatskapelle Orchestra in Germany, as well as a guest principal of the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe Orchestra, and the Sungshin Philharmonic Orchestra. And she took part in the Yoon Isang Project in Germany and continued her academic pursuits by attending masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Arto Noras, Peter Bruns, Julian Steckel, Tilmann Wick, Niklas Eppinger, and Cho Young-chang.Having studied under Martin Ostertag, Lim Kyung-won, Hong Sung-eun, and Lee Sang-eun, Oh currently serves as principal cellist of Kalos Symphony Orchestra and a member of Loben Duo as well as Trio Eloquence, and teaches at Sunhwa Arts Middle School, Kaywon Arts Middle School, Incheon Arts Middle School, the Korea High School of Creative Arts, and Incheon Girls’ Middle School (music focused).
