외부와의 교류가 단절된 섬인 낙월도에는 최부자 등 몇몇 지주가 섬의 경제권을 독점하여 바다에서 잡은 고기를 빼돌리고는 명바위 수신때문에 흉어가 들기 시작했다고 소문을 낸다. 그리고는 섬주민들에게 이잣돈을 꾸어주며 이를 미끼로 섬을 장악하자 종천과 귀덕은 섬을 되살리려고 노력하지만 최부자들에게 빚진 주민들은 섬을 떠나거나 죽음을 당한다. 분노가 폭발한 종천은 최부자 일당을 처치하나, 무당 청백이의 손에 죽으면서도 섬의 자유를 갈구하고 이제 자신을 깨달은 청백이는 무아지경에서 춤을 추다 벼랑에서 떨어져 죽게 된다. 마침내 귀덕은 종천과의 사이에서 태어나는 사내아이를 낳게 됨으로써 낙월도에는 평화가 다시 찾아온다.

SYNOPSIS: Nak-wol Island is isolated from the outside world. Choi, a wealthy man, and a few fishing boat owners take complete control of the island. They grab all the fish that is caught and start a rumor blaming the poor catch on the water spirit Myung-ba-wi. Then they lend money to the villagers and use it to control them. Jong-cheon and Kwi-deok try to revive the island but the villagers who owe Choi money either leave or are killed. Jong-cheon defeats Choi's men but he is killed by sorceress Chung Baek. Kwi-deok finally has a baby, the son of Jong-cheon, and peace returns to Nak-wol Island.
