Despite and Still PROFILESoprano Kim Yu-jin graduated from the Department of Voice Music, College of Music of Hanyang University with cum laude honors. She furthered her education at New England Conservatory of Music, where she obtained her Master of Music in vocal performance with cum laude honors. She then completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts in vocal performance and literature at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s, where her thesis was entitled "From Machiavelli to Zarzuela: A Performer’s Guide to William Bolcom’s Opera Lucrezia", graduating with honors and a full scholarship. Additionally, she pursued a minor in Performance and Practice, conducting research on instrumental techniques in various European countries, thereby gaining extensive musical experience ranging from contemporary to classical music.Having studied under Professors Kwak Shin-hyoung, Jerold Siena, and Mark St. Laurent, Kim You-jin is actively involved in academic research as a member of the Baroque and Contemporary Song Research Society and the Musical Arts Association. Also she is engaged as an artist in the Variety Music Group and Ensemble Nouvelle Vague. Currently she is committed to training younger students by giving lectures at Hanyang University, Sungshin Women’s University, Catholic University, and Incheon Arts High School.
