Appetite_Kang Mi-ae\’s Individual ExhibitionArtist Kang Mi-ae created a series of art works expressing basic desires of human beings showed up in modern society through \’Landscape on a Table\’. The combination of splendid colors and symbolized texts are uniquely used. It has an aim to bring and talk about desires hidden deep in the inner part of human beings by use of a humans\’ ordinary acting \’meal\’. As civilization develops so quickly and industrial society is being seen, some people living in modern society can enjoy their life in an affluent environment without any worry about food, clothing and shelter. However, there are just a small number of privileged people compared to the whole population and more than half of the population suffer from famine and poverty. As being aware of the polarized world, I came to think of the necessity of establishing a right concept of consumption through observing the appearance of side effects caused by overconsumption of human beings. In spite of well recognizing such imbalance, I have pursued right norms in the humanistic and social relations and at the same time my real life is full of uncontrolled desires. So, it is thought that whether being conscious or not, overconsumption caused by uncontrolled desires presides consciousness and behavior of modern people including us. Also, it seems that such overconsumption of modern people is high likely to reach to the state of extreme such as poisoning. Therefore, I would like to study on human desires under the belief that an attitude to cope with such a risk of the state of extreme should be given.   I have tried to introduce ugly objects (food waste image), symbolized letters, and metaphoric images like fly and others which control impossibility of desires to disguise them with showy colors and express features of perverted and pathological modern people as well as remind us of irrationality of modern society. Also, it is the world of my works and a method of interpreting the works to cast a philosophical question by studying on human behaviors though the works and imposing social messages to confront the works as a mirror of modern people who look around for unrealistic desires with losing their identity. I dream of establishing social norms in a right way through such a series of works.
